Fans of history and folklore won’t have to wait long for the second season of fighting and pillaging in the Nordic era. The show, Vikings, is gearing up for a second season.
Vikings follows Ragnar Lothbrok, the greatest hero of his time. The series talks about Ragnar and his Viking brothers. Michael Hirst is the creator, writer, and showrunner of the series. His previous projects include Showtime’s The Tudors. He was quick to explore the warrior legend of the Nordic Dark Ages.
According to the Associated Press, Hirst said, "We're jumping forward in time so that Ragnar's sons can get up and running. I want to follow what happens to his sons, because they had extraordinary histories too."
The cast features Travis Fimmel as Ragnar and Clive Standen as Rollo. The show has a solid first season. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the show averaged 4.3 million total viewers ove nine weeks. The creative team behind The Vikings was nominated for three Emmy Awards, including Outstanding Visual Effects.
