Woody Allen’s lawyer has responded to his estranged adopted daughter, Dylan Farrow’s recent comments in a published New York Times piece, in which she gave a detailed account of his alleged sexual abuse.
The Blue Jasmine director blames his ex, Mia Farrow, Dylan’s mother, for what he refers to as a fabricated story.
On Monday, Allen’s lawyer emailed the following statement to CNN: "It is tragic that after 20 years a story engineered by a vengeful lover resurfaces even though it was fully vetted and rejected by independent authorities. The one to blame for Dylan's distress is neither Dylan nor Woody Allen."
The allegations first surfaced in 1993, when Farrow accused him of molesting their daughter in custody proceedings. The accusations stem back to 1992, when it was exposed Allen was having an affair with Farrow’s adopted daughter, Soon-Yi Previn, who was then 19. Allen and Previn have been married since 1997.
In Dylan’s new letter, she criticizes Allen’s career accolades and those who worked with him. “What if it had been your child, Cate Blanchett? Louis CK? Alec Baldwin? What if it had been you Emma Stone? Or you, Scarlett Johansson? You knew me when I was a little girl, Diane Keaton. Have you forgotten me?” she asked.
