Woody Allen has issued a statement about the molestation allegations published in his adopted daughter's open letter.
In a statement to the The Hollywood Reporter Woody Allen's rep says, "Mr. Allen has read the article and found it untrue and disgraceful. He will be responding very soon."
The statement comes after daughter Dylan Farrow, now age 28, released her open letter through a New York Times blog post. In it, Farrow details the sexual abuse she suffered for years at the hands of her celebrity father, including a graphic rape when she was just seven years old. The molestation charges became public knowledge during a custody battle between Mia Farrow and Woody Allen when Dylan was 19. Though Allen was never convicted of child molestation, his adopted daughter maintains that her allegations are true.
In a bold statement, she declares "Woody Allen is a living testament to the way our society fails the survivors of sexual assault and abuse." Farrow calls out several of Hollywood's biggest names in her letter for continuing to support her father. Alec Baldwin, Cate Blanchett, and Louis C.K all got a shout out as they worked with Allen in his 2013 film Blue Jasmine .
Hollywood and the rest of the world now wait for star actor and director Woody Allen to issue a full statement on the allegations, and what effect, if any, it will have on his public image.
