Woody Allen's team has spoken out a little more about the recent letter that his adopted daughter, Dylan Farrow, penned for the New York Times. His lawyer, Elkan Abramowitz, said that the accusations were "engineered by a vengeful lover."
As previously reported, Farrow published an open letter in the Times where she accuses the Hollywood director of sexual abuse while she was a child.
She wrote about how he would take her up to the attic and have her watch a toy train while Allen did inappropriate things. Farrow notes she developed post-traumatic stress disorder later in life and ended up changing her name to get away from everything.
In a written statement from Abramowitz to CNN, the lawyer said that the accusations were "fully vetted and rejected by independent authorities."
The statement adds, "The one to blame for Dylan's distress is neither Dylan nor Woody Allen."
The statement is an expansion of what the Annie Hall director's rep, Lesslee Dart, said the day before on Sunday about Dylan likely being coached by Mia Farrow. His rep said his response would be forthcoming, but Allen "read the article and found it untrue and disgraceful."
