Fans of Big Bang Theory received the good news that the popular series will be renewed for another three years.
Big Bang Theory is a comedy about geeks who practice science. According to the Associated Press, the three year renewal will bring the show to Season 10.
The cast has many fans and was a favorite at the Emmy Awards as well as the Golden Globes. The show won a Golden Globe for Best Performance by an Actor in a Television, Musical, or Comedy in 2011. Jim Parsons has won three Emmy awards for his portrayal of Sheldon Cooper. He co-stars with Johnny Galecki and Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting in the series. Warner Bros. TV is in the process of renewing contracts for the cast members.
According to Variety, CBS Entertainment chairman Nina Tassler said, “Comedy is a big part of our schedule, and The Big Bang Theory is the biggest comedy force on television.” The comedy series averaged 19.79 million viewers this year.
Big Bang Theory airs on Thursday night at 8PM on CBS.
