San Francisco 49ers' starting cornerback Chris Culliver was arrested Friday for felony hit-and-run charges in San Jose, Calif.
Sports Illustrated reports that Culliver hit a bicyclist with his car, threatened an eye-witness with brass knuckles when they tried to stop him from leaving, hit the eye-witness' car and fled the scene.
Culliver was arrested near the scene for reckless driving causing an injury, felony possession of brass knuckles, felony hit-and-run charges for hitting the bicyclist and misdemeanor charges of hit-and-run for hitting the eye-witness' car, according to ESPN.
The bicyclist was reportedly treated at a local hospital for minor injuries and released, ESPN reports.
Culliver missed all of the 2013 season with the 49ers due to a torn ACL and is expected to be a starting cornerback for San Francisco in 2014.
This is not Culliver's first time making headlines for negative reasons. During Super Bowl week in 2013, he made anti-gay comments and as a result had to undergo counseling, according to ESPN.
It will be interesting to see what kind of discipline the 49ers and the NFL will impose on Culliver for his latest off the field incident.
