ABC Family has pulled the plug on their upcoming Alice in Arabia. A few days ago the Council on American-Islamic Relations vocalized their concern about the pilot of the upcoming project and requested to meet with the production team of the show. Following this, ABC Family decided that they would not be moving forward with production.
An ABC Family spokesperson recently discussed this cancellation in their upcoming TV schedule, "The current conversation surrounding our pilot was not what we had envisioned and is certainly not conducive to the creative process, so we’ve decided not to move forward with this project," said the spokesperson for the network, The Hollywood Reporter added.
Alice in Arabia was going to tell the story of an American teen who would be kidnapped by her Saudi Arabian family, Variety reported.
The script was written by Brooke Eikmeie. Eikmeie had the background to write this show, she served in the United States Army as a cryptologic linguist expert in the Arabic language and served on missions in the Middle East.
