Multi-talented director and producer Adam Shankman will be directing and choreographing the musical Hair with its three day run at the Hollywood Bowl.

According to Variety the Hollywood Bowl will host three performances of the Tony winning musical on August 1 through 3, with tickets going on sale for the historic venue’s season on May 4. Hair first debuted on Broadway in 1968 celebrating the hippie counterculture, anti-war movement and sexual revolution of the 1960s. The musical produced several hits including "Aquarius," "Good Morning Starshine," and "Easy to be Hard", all of which have made their stamp in pop culture.

Shankman has a long list of directorial and producer credits including big screen adaptations of Hairspray and Rock of Ages, along with turns in the director chair for the small screen including episodes of Glee and Modern Family.

The So You Think You Can Dance judge last made headlines in early December with a stint in rehab. The night before he entered on Dec. 8, Shankman served as executive producer and director of the TrevorLIVE event in Hollywood. TrevorLIVE is a semi-annual event benefitting The Trevor Project, a suicide and crisis intervention group helping lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) youth.
