Minnesota Vikings All-Pro running back Adrian Peterson believes that free-agent quarterback Michael Vick is the player they need to make them a playoff team.
Peterson took to Twitter late last night and tweeted, “@MikeVick would intently make the Vikings a playoff team!” More than likely, Peterson meant “instantly,” not intently. The tweet has since been deleted.
The Vikings have been through their fair share of lackluster quarterbacks over the past few years. Peterson’s lobbying for a better quarterback is no surprise to many fans and football aficionados. Minnesota has been a quarterback carousel in recent years, with different four players starting games last year.
Vick will turn 34 in June and started just six games for the Philadelphia Eagles last season before losing the starting job to current starter Nick Foles. He is considered to be one of the top free agent quarterbacks on the market, but has been plagued by injuries throughout much of his career, only playing a full 16-game season once.
It is unclear whether or not the Vikings will pursue Michael Vick, according to the NY Daily News. According to ESPN, Christian Ponder is the only Vikings quarterback under contract after Matt Cassel opted out of his 2014 contract in February. Josh Freeman, whom the Vikings signed to a one-year, $2 million deal and used in one game last season, also is a free agent.
