AMC has confirmed that they are moving ahead with their Walking Dead companion series and announced the showrunner will be Dave Erickson, who wrote and produced for Sons of Anarchy from 2008 to 2011.
Uproxx notes that Erickson previously worked for the network on the disappointing crime drama Low Winter Sun. His other work includes Fox's Canterbury's Law and TV movies for USA.
Erickson will be working with Walking Dead executive producers Gale Anne Hurd and Robert Kirkman.
Kirkman, who has been writing the comic series the show is based on since 2003, told IGN last year that he is looking forward to working on something that isn't tied to the book. He said "it’s great to go back to page one and think about it. It’s going to be set in this world, but it is a new cast and a new setting, and it’s going to be very different. It’s just exciting to be able to start over again and try to do cool stuff." Kirkman wasn't specific about the new setting but promised that it would not be Georgia.
