American Idol runner-up, David Archuleta, has returned from a 2-year Mormon mission in Chile. He served as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Archuleta, 23, didn’t have a lot of contact with his family or anyone else during his time at the Missionary Training Center, where he performed in a Mormon choir for its general conference. He performed in Christmas events at the Santiago Chile Temple grounds as well.

The Hollywood Reporter reports the singer posted a video of himself in traditional Mormon attire, letting his fans know “I’m home.”

Back in December 2011, Archuleta let fans know at one of his shows what he would be doing for the next two years.

"It's not because someone told me I was supposed to do it, not because I no longer want to do music anymore, but it's because it's the feeling that I feel I need to do next in my life,” he said at the time. He was to "avoid all forms of worldly entertainment," during his mission.
