This will be Crystal's first time on TV, not counting hosting appearance, since Soap went off the air back in 1981, USA Today reported.
Nick Grad, original programming chief for FX Networks and FX Productions, spoke about how excited he was about the show. "We're incredibly excited about The Comedians and the fact that Billy Crystal will be making his return to series television on FX. The chemistry between Billy and Josh is amazing, and Larry, Matt, Ben and Billy did a fantastic job of making what is certain to become one of the best comedies on TV."
Production will start later this year on the show, which is a remake of a Swedish production with the same title. The Comedians will premiere in 2015.
