The X-Men: Days of Future Past director, Bryan Singer, has signed on to both direct the pilot for the CBS drama series Battle Creek and executive produce.

The move will put Singer and David Shore back together after they previously worked together on the Fox show House. Shore was the showrunner and Singer directed the pilot for that show too, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Breaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan wrote the script and will executive produce the series alongside Shore.

Another House alum was cast into the show, Kal Penn. He signed on to play a detective. Earlier today, it was reported, Justified's Damon Herriman had joined the cast as a detective who looks up to Penn's.

Casting has started to come quickly as one of the two lead roles has been filled, by Dean Winters. Like the others, he will play a detective, and he finds himself partnered up with a currently uncast FBI agent and they are given the task of trying to clean up the streets of Battle Creek, Mich.

Others that have signed on board include Janet McTeer, Edward Fordham Jr. and Aubrey Dollar.
