Cal basketball head coach Mike Montgomery is reportedly considering retirement, and it could happen as early as Monday.

Multiple sources have stated that Montgomery has leaned toward retiring, according to ESPN. He is expected to inform athletic director Sandy Barbour of his decision on Monday.

Montgomery has led the Cal basketball program to some success, helping them produce winning seasons in each of his years at the helm. In the 2013 season, Montgomery led the Golden Bears to a 21-14 record, which included an upset of then-No. 1 Arizona. They failed to reach the NCAA tournament this season though.

However, the Golden Bears won a tournament game last year against UNLV as a No. 12 seed. Montgomery has guided the Golden Bears to an NCAA tournament trip in four of his six seasons. In two of these appearances, the Golden Bears reached the Round of 32, according to NBC Sports.
