Many thought the applause for Woody Allen when Best Actress winner Cate Blanchett mentioned him in her acceptance speech at the Oscars was muted.
Considering all of the controversy surrounding Allen right now – the sexual abuse allegations from estranged step-daughter Dylan Farrow have come to light again – many wondered if Blanchett would even mention his name in her speech if she won.
She of course did, taking the time to honor him onstage, saying, "Thank you so much Woody for casting me. I truly appreciate it.”
The Wire notes some took to Twitter to note that the lack of applause when she mentioned his name was gravely apparent.
"That was some impressively muffled applause for Woody Allen," The Hollywood Reporter even tweeted.

Woody Allen got less of an applause than Roman Polanski would have, but more of an applause than Ian Watkins would have. #Oscars

Allen was noticeable absent from the Academy Awards on Sunday night. His next film, which stars Emma Stone and Colin Firth, will come out sometime this year.
