NFL running back Adrian Peterson and actor Matthew Broderick are celebrating their birthdays Friday.

Adrian Peterson, who plays running back for the Minnesota Vikings, is celebrating his 29th birthday today. Peterson has played his entire career with the Vikings, and he is widely known as the best running back in the NFL. He won an MVP award in 2012 for rushing for 2,097 yards, which was nine yards short of the single-season record.

Peterson has rushed for at least 1,000 yards every season except 2011, where he rushed for 970 but sat out four games. He has also rushed for double-digit touchdowns every season, including a career-high 18 in 2009.

He has been the rushing champion twice, each in 2008 and 2012. For his accomplishments, Peterson has been named to six Pro Bowls.

Matthew Broderick, who is best known for playing Ferris Bueller in Ferris Bueller's Day Off, celebrates his 52nd birthday.

Broderick had his first moment in the spotlight when he became the youngest actor to win a Tony Award for Best Featured Actor in a Play for his role in Brighton Beach Memoirs. He won this award in 1983 and another Tony in 1995 for a leading role in How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying.

Broderick is also well-known for voicing the adult version of Simba in The Lion King, which was released in 1994.
