It was both good and bad news for Chris Brown on Friday. A California judge ordered that the singer stay in the anger management rehab program in Malibu for another two months before returning to court in late April. This postpones what prosecutors against Brown asked of the judge to send Brown to jail after violating his probation back in October.

With the next hearing with Superior Court Judge James Brandlin set for April 23 until then a brief assault trial in Washington D.C. will be held with Brown reported Associated Press.

Brown was arrested in October after being accused of punching a man and breaking the man’s nose with his bodyguard. At the time Brown was on probation for his 2009 attack on then girlfriend, Rihanna. As a result, Brown’s attorneys asked the judge to wait for the outcome of the Washington D.C. conflict before deciding whether or not he should go to jail.

Brown’s probation officer has testified that "continues to make great improvement” in dealing with drugs, anger, and stress according to CNN.

Brown entered the rehab program voluntarily after being released from jail back in October. A few days later however Brown was kicked out of the facility after throwing a rock at his mother’s car.
