Veteran comedian George Wallace is starting to speak out about his activity in a law suit involving the Bellagio hotel in Las Vegas.
The comedian suffered a ruptured Achilles tendon, and is suing for millions of dollars. According to the Associated Press, the 61-year-old comedian returned to the witness stand on Friday in a civil negligence lawsuit.
The comedian is suing for an event that happened in 2007. According to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, Attorney Dominic Gentile said during this opening statement, “The year 2007 was great for George Wallace until the end.”
District Judge Ronald Israel is presiding over the trial. Bellagio attorney Paul Haire said that there is evidence that Wallace had a pre-existing injury. Bellagio attorneys say Wallace voluntarily assumed the risk of injury, and was careless onstage.
Wallace followed the show at the Bellagio with a performance at his regular 10 p.m. show at the Flamingo, but he stayed seated onstage in a swivel chair that evening. It was the first time in his life that he preferred to do the show sitting.
