Dame Judi Dench will reportedly be unable to attend the Oscars due to her filming schedule.
The 79-year-old actress is nominated for the Best Actress award for her work in Philomena, however she will not be at the ceremony because she is filming for an upcoming movie in India, reports Contact Music.
She is filming for The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel 2 and the trip from India to Los Angeles may be too much.
Dench’s daughter, Flinty Williams, spoke out on the matter to Britain’s Daily Telegraph.
“Honestly, I don't know. She has been hard at work in India making the sequel to The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel and I am not sure if she is going to fly from there to the States. It has been a few days since we have spoken,” she said, according to Hollywood.
Unfortunately, Dench already missed out on promotion for Philomena and other awards shows such as the Golden Globes, due to knee surgery she had been recovering from a few months ago.
However, she admitted last month that she hoped to be able to attend the Oscars.
Dench has been nominated for an Oscar award seven times and won the prize for Best Supporting Actress in 1998 for her role in Shakespeare in Love. Tonight, she is up against Amy Adams, Cate Blanchett, Sandra Bullock and Meryl Streep.
