The world-renowned dancehall Jamaican artist Vybz Kartel, formally known as Adidja Palmer, was found guilty on Thursday for the murder of Clive “Lizard” Williams, leaving fans shocked and heartbroken on social networks.

According to Vibe , allegedly Williams was fatally beaten at Palmer’s home in St. Andrew, Jamaica over two guns on Aug. 16, 2011. Billboard report that although William’s body was never found, the 11 member jury deliberated just a little under two hours and found the 38-year old dancehall legend, alongside three other associates, guilty of the crime. Kahira Jones, Andre St. John and Shawn Campbell, also known as Shawn Storm, will report to court on March 27th for sentencing. Associate Shane Williams, did not have enough evidence connecting him to the murder charge and was given a ‘not guilt’ verdict.

According to the Jamaica Gleaner, Kartel was arrested on Sept. 30, 2011 at a New Kingston hotel in Jamaica and was in custody until trial began on November 18, 2013 at the Home Circuit Court. The 65 day trial is deemed the longest trial in Jamaican history.

Although much controversy surrounds the Jamaican rapper, Kartel is most known for his bizarre bleached skin and tattoo appearance along with violent and x-rated lyrics, which he’s even collaborated once with American rapper Busta Rhymes.
