Brackets are likely already suffering as Dayton upset Ohio State in the NCAA Tournament on Thursday, finding a way to score in the final seconds.
Senior Vee Sanford scored the winning basket off a layup with 3.8 seconds left, reports The Associated Press. Ohio State was unable to respond, leaving the tournament in the first round after a 60-59 loss to 11th-seeded Dayton.
Ohio State took the lead with only 15.5 seconds left on a reverse layup from Aaron Craft. With 10.8 seconds left, Dayton decided it would be best to draw up a play and called a timeout.
"I wasn't nervous," Sanford said. "We've drawn up a play like that, and I messed it up previously. But (coach Archie Miller) just kept his trust in me, and I'm just thankful the shot went in."
With little time left Craft tried to respond by dashing up the court, but found himself surrounded as he tried to shoot the ball, which left him unable to get a clear look, notes The New York Times.
"That's kind of hour our season has gone," Craft said. "I thought I got it up high enough, but I didn't."
The Buckeyes have struggled throughout the season as they let some teams challenge them more than they probably should.
