Just two weeks after it premiered on the new El Rey network, Robert Rodriguez’s TV version of his From Dusk Till Dawn film is getting a second season.
From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series is El Rey’s first scripted show. Earlier this month, Netflix agreed to distribute the series in Canada, the Netherlands, the Nordic countries, the U.K., Ireland and Latin America. That international distribution deal will carry through for season two.
“This is a truly unique property and one that has really resonated for viewers,” Rodriguez said in a statement, posted at Deadline. “It has been a joy to bring these characters back to life and have the opportunity to take our storytelling to a whole new place. We look forward to going back into production later this year and are excited about raising the bar even higher in season two.”
The series version of From Dusk Till Dawn features D.J. Cotrona, Samantha Esteban, Robert Patrick, Madison Davenport, Adrianne Palicki, Zane Holtz and Eiza González. The film was released back in 1996 and starred George Clooney and Quentin Tarantino.
