A police forensics expert testified in the Oscar Pistorius murder trial on Wednesday and contradicted the Paralympian’s version of events.
According to CNN, South African police colonel J.G. Vermeulen testified that Pistorius was on the stumps of his amputated legs when he knocked down a locked toilet door with a cricket bat to reach his shot girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp.
"From the forensic evidence, he was on his stumps," said Vermeulen.
The testimony disputes the track star’s claim that he was on his prosthetic legs at the time.
Pistorius’ defense lawyers tried to dispute the claim and pointed to shoddy police work and contaminated evidence in the original investigation.
The Associated Press noted that a bathroom door replica was in the courtroom for Vermeulen to demonstrate from his knees how the double amputee could have swung the bat and knocked down the door to get to Steenkamp.
The athlete is accused of murdering the model on Valentine’s Day 2013 after the two had an argument. Pistorius has plead not guilty to the charges and maintains that he fatally shot her after mistaking her for an intruder.
