Writer Bret Easton Ellis and musician Rob Zombie are working with FOX to develop a new series that revisits the Manson Family murders of 1969.

Variety reports that Ellis and Zombie have teamed with Alcon Television to create a series for FOX based on the Manson Family murders.

The show will focus on multiple characters who were somehow related to the murders ordered my Charles Manson, a cult leader. It will consist of multiple stories leading up to the murders, and the events that fall after, given from different points of view.

Seven people were killed during the murders that took place in the Los Angeles area. One of the victims was actress Sharon Tate who was pregnant at the time.

The story will be written by Ellis, with Zombie serving as director.

Zombie admits he was always intrigued by the Manson murders, and was excited to join the series.

"I have been obsessed with this insane story since I was a kid, so obviously I jumped at the chance to be involved in this incredible project," Zombie said.

According to The Wrap, FOX representatives explained that the series, which is intended to be a limited event series, is still in the early stages of development.
