Geoff Edwards, the television host of show like Jackpot and Treasure Hunt, died at age 83 in California.
The popular television host was a mainstay on 1970s game shows. According to the The Hollywood Reporter, Fred Westbrook, Edwards’ agent said, “Geoff help to change the look of daytime television in the early ’70s as his hair was a bit longer, he almost never wore a tie, wore jeans and rarely had a podium to stand behind.”
Edwards first became popular after the success of Lucky Partners, a television program produced by game show legend, Bob Barker. Later Edwards served as the host of Jackpot, a game from the creator of 10,000 Pyramid.
Edwards also worked on the small screen as an actor, appearing on shows like Petticoat Junction, I Dream of Jeanie, and Diff’rent Strokes, according to the Associated Press.
Edwards is survived by his ex-wife, Suzanne and his current wife. He is also survived by his son, Todd, daughter, Shawn, and step-sons, Justin, and Jason. He has nine grandchildren.
