The NFL have set a new salary cap for 2014. The players’ association announced Friday that the cap is set at $133 million, making it the largest cap in NFL history.

The significant salary cap was increased $10 million from last year’s cap at $123 million reported CBS Sports. Before 2014, the largest salary cap has been set in 2009 at $127.997 million according to USA Today.

The new agreement will include spending minimums of 89% per team and 95% league-wide of the salary cap from 2013 to 2016 and from 2017 to 2020. Under the new agreement, teams will no longer be able to leave their cap space unused as became custom with some teams in the old agreement. An average carryover of $6.1 million in unused cap space from most teams in 2013 puts the total spending on player salaries near $4.4 billion for 2014.

Additionally according to the union’s release, more than $33 million in player benefits will be given to the each team.
