A news helicopter crashed in very busy area of downtown Seattle on Tuesday.
According to NBC News, the copter is used by two local news stations, KOMO, an ABC affiliate, and KING5, an NBC affiliate.
KOMO-TV has said that the chopper was preparing to land on its helicopter pad on the rooftop when it possibly hit the side of the building and went down.
The Associated Press reported that the chopper and some cars burst into flames and casualties have been reported. Emergency responders transported a 37-year-old man, who was a passenger in one of the cars, to the hospital in critical condition.
KOMO4 news anchors tweeted out pictures and said that they witnessed the crash right outside of their news room. Additional photos of the wreckage have been posted on social media and eyewitness videos of the chaotic scene have been uploaded to various websites.
The Seattle Police Department has said that the crash occurred near the city’s famed Space Needle and that it happened at 7:30 a.m. local time.
