Due to legal expenses and not wanting to go back to the scene of the crime, Oscar Pistorius’ mansion, where he fatally shot Reeva Steenkamp, is up for sale.

According to the Sporting News, the word out of Johannesburg via a statement from the Pistorius family attorney Brian Webber, is that the Paralympian is forced to sell the villa due to unforeseen costs.

“It has become necessary to sell Mr. Pistorius' home in the Silver Woods Country Estate in Pretoria in order for him to raise the necessary funds to cover his increasing legal costs,” said Webber. “This is due to the unexpected extension of the trial beyond the initial three-week period for which it was originally set down.”

The man known as Blade Runner, is paying thousands of dollars a day in legal fees and needs the money.

The New York Daily News reported that the athlete used to earn about $500,000 a year from running, however, he has not competed in two years and has been dropped by his sponsors.

Webber also said that the 27-year-old cannot image ever living or returning to his former home again.

An upstairs bathroom in the home is the site of where Steenkamp died after Pistorius shot her on Valentine’s Day last year. The prosecution said it was premeditated murder. The sprint runner has plead not guilty to the charge and maintains that he shot the model after he mistook her for an intruder.
