The Indianapolis Colts added receiving depth by signing Hakeem Nicks to a one-year deal worth a maximum of $5.5 million.
According to ESPN, Nicks was drafted by the New York Giants in the first round of the 2009 draft. Nicks has since played a major role in the Giants' passing offense.
He broke out in 2010 with 79 catches and 1,052 yards while finding the end zone 11 times. He also helped lead the Giants to a Super Bowl in 2011 with 76 catches, 1,192 yards and seven touchdowns.
His play has dropped off since. According to NFL, Nicks battled foot and knee injuries in 2012. He was held without a touchdown catch in 2013 despite making 56 catches and gaining 896 receiving yards.
Nicks has said that he is willing to sign a one-year deal to prove that he can stay healthy before he signs a long-term deal. If Nicks can return to form, the Colts' receiving corps figures to be dangerous with Reggie Wayne and T.Y. Hilton also in line to receive targets from quarterback Andrew Luck.
