Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin will be joining forces again for a new comedy series. The duo was previously seen in the comedy, Nine to Five.
The pair has decided to take their most recent project to Netflix. The online TV network plans to air Grace and Frankie. It will premiere next year. Netflix has agreed to film 13 half-hour episodes, according to the Associated Press. The co-creator, Marta Kauffman, the creator of friends will be working with Howard J. Morris who worked on Sullivan & Son.
Ted Sarandos, Netflix Chief Content Officer, told Deadline, “The show created for them by Marta and Howard is warm, very funny and anything but wholesome. We can’t wait.”
Fonda has appeared on HBO’s The Newsroom and was seen in the film, Lee Daniels’ The Butler. Tomlin has also appeared in Admission, last year’s Tina Fey comedy. She has won two Oscars for Coming Home and Klute. Her films include Stanley & Iris, Agnes of God, Monster-in-Law, and Lee Daniels’ The Butler.
Lily Tomlin was nominated for an Academy Award for her role in Nashville. She also won an Emmy Award for her program, Lily: Sold Out.
