Jared Leto has won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor for his role in Dallas Buyers Club.
The Los Angeles Times reports that Leto won his first Oscar for his role in Dallas Buyers Club as Rayon, a kind and generous transexual who is fighting AIDS. Leto's Oscar win completes his a terrific awards season, along with the Oscar, Leto won recognition by winning the Golden Globe and SAG award. As well as earning praise from the Los Angeles Film Critics Association and New York Film Critics Circle. Leto's role in Dallas Buyers Club marked his return to acting, after taking a break to tour with his band 30 Second to Mars for six years. Leto beat Michael Fassbender (12 Years a Slave), Barkhad Abdi (Captain Phillips), Jonah Hill (The Wolf of Wall Street) and Bradley Cooper (American Hustle).
According to New York Daily News Leto dedicated gave a passionate and inspiring acceptance speech. Leto stated that, "To all the dreamers out there watching this tonight in places like the Ukraine and Venezuela, as you struggle to make your dreams happen, and live the impossible, we’re thinking of you tonight.”
