The drama that’s stemming from Johnny Weir and Victor Voronov’s divorce has left the Olympic figure skater no other choice but to leave Donald Trump’s Celebrity Apprentice.
According to Radar, Weir has been filming for Trump’s Celebrity Apprentice last week, but hasn’t returned to film this week with the ongoing drama that the divorce has caused.
A source close to Weir spoke to Radar about his current situation.
“He felt all of the drama was going to detract from filming, and decided to quit. It was a hard decision for him to make because Johnny was very excited about doing the show, and has tons of respect for Donald Trump,” the source said.
The source also revealed that there is hope that the show will allow for him to return in the future after the drama has passed.
The drama has stemmed from Voronov believing that Weir has more money than he says. According to Radar, Weir has proclaimed that he is not worth $10 million.
“We own no real property. We lease our cars. We have no joint back accounts. We have no children,” Weir noted in a sworn declaration according to Radar. “Other than goods (i.e. purses, artwork, shoes, clothing, etc) the majority of which I either owned prior to my very short marriage or were gifted to me by my fans, we have very little.”
Weir’s lack of participation in Celebrity Apprentice isn’t the only working hit that the divorce is causing him. The source also spilled that due to the divorce, Weir is also missing out on several other career opportunities, including a reality television show.
“Johnny has also been put on ice by NBC… there were plans to develop a reality show with Johnny and Tara Lipinski,” the source revealed. “The duo was a hit with their broadcasting from the Sochi Winter Olympics, but all of that is now on hold.”
