Actor, Josh Lucas, has signed on to join the upcoming cast of The Mysteries of Laura, which is being produced for NBC/WBTV.

This new drama will also feature Debra Messing, who will be playing a female homicide detective. Lucas will be starting opposite Messing, playing her ex-husband and cop who ends up being the captain of the police precinct that Messing's character works at, Variety reported.

Also signed on to star in the upcoming project are actors, Thesps Laz Alonso and Janina Gavankar, Deadline reported.

Jeff Rake wrote the script for the upcoming one-hour long drama and the show will be directed by McG, who recently directed the film 3 Days to Kill.

This show will be a English remake of the Spanish television drama Los Misterios de Laura, which is an original series that was created by Carlos Vila and Javier Holgado.

Lucas is known for his work on shows such as, The Firm and staring along side Reese Witherspoon in the romantic comedy Sweet Home Alabama.
