Katie Holmes is ready to go back to television. The Dawson’s Creek actress has signed on to star in an ABC drama pilot that is set in New York City. The project is still untitled.

The pilot comes from Richard LaGravenese (P.S. I Love You) and centers on a rivalry between two New York socialites, Philip Fitzgerald Julien and Margot Worth Cole, reports Deadline. Rufus Sewell has been cast as Philip. Holmes will play Ann, a philanthropist dedicated to helping children in Africa get clean water.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, ABC Studios is producing the pilot. Erwin Stoff, Ilene Staple and Wren Arthur are the executive producers with LaGravenese. Taylor Hackford will direct.

This would be Holmes first regular series role since Dawson’s Creek. That helped launch a career with appearances in Batman Begins and The Kennedys.

The pilot will be filmed in New York, where Holmes currently lives with Suri, her daughter with ex-husband Tom Cruise.
