It looks like the chances of Katy Perry and John Mayer getting back together is very slim after reports of why the duo broke up have come out.
E! News exclusively learned that the 29-year-old had been thinking about moving on for a while before she actually went through with it. A source said the “Dark Horse” singer felt there was something that wasn’t quite right between them. The singer knew there were certain differences in their personalities, and after some time passed, Perry was able to trust her gut.
"They're two very strong-willed people," a source told People. "Despite caring about each other very much and wanting to make it work, they are, at their core, quite different."
One inside said the age gap between the couple was a factor. Perry is at an age where she’s still interested in going out to party while the partying can get to be too much for Mayer, 36.
"At times they seemed really happy together and in love, and other times he seemed like he just wanted to get away from all the parties and go home. I can't say I always blamed him," the insider said.
