We all know Kevin Bacon is connected to practically every celebrity on the planet and although we have fun trying to research stars he isn’t connected to – which is impossible – the Footloose star initially hated the game revolving “The Oracle of Bacon.”
In an interview with Buzzfeed, he said that he thought the game Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon was annoying.
“I thought it was a joke at my expense. I thought somebody was trying to pick the biggest loser they could find and joke about the fact I could be connected to Laurence Oliver in two steps,” he said.
“When you fight so hard and put your sweat and blood into trying to have your work speak for itself, I found it belittling.”
The idea behind Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon is a website dedicated to proving the actor can be connected to any celebrity – usually living or dead – in less than six steps.
College students Craig Fass, Brian Turtle and Mike Ginelli, who studied at Albright College in 1994, created the site 20 years ago.
Thinking he was the butt of some kind of joke, Bacon was asked to go meet the trio on The John Stewart Show in 1995.
“I almost canceled the appearance because it thought it was going to be embarrassing,” he said in the interview. “But when I met them, I realized they weren’t’ making fun of me, they actually liked my movies.”
Even though he thought the trend was going to fade away, two decades later people are still trying to crack the bacon code.
