Kristin Cavallari says that she and husband Jay Cutler will not be vaccinating her kids over the belief that there is a link between vaccinations and autism.
She spoke on the Fox Business' The Independents on Thursday and said that the couple had decided against vaccinations, reports Us Weekly.
"You know what, I've read too many books about autism," the mother of 18-month-old Camden, who has another on the way, said. "There is a pediatric group called Homestead, or, shoot, Homestead or Home First ... they've never vaccinated any of their children and they've never had one case of autism. And now, one in 88 boys is autistic, which is a really scary statistic."
Host Lisa Kennedy Montgomery interrupted the 27-year-old and noted that her own mother never had any kid with autism despite vaccinating them all. Cavallari insisted that vaccinations are different from how they were before as "there's more mercury and other [stuff]."
According to the Chicago Tribune, the pediatric group Cavallari spoke about is called Homefirst Health Services and are known to prefer home births and not use vaccinations.
The newspaper notes that a few years ago it had looked into the man behind the group, Dr. Mayer Eisenstein, and the alternative autism treatments he does.
Most Pediatricians recommend that all parents get their children vaccinated and that medical organizations say there is no link between them and autism.
