Award winning actress Kristin Chenoweth announced this week that she has suffered from asthma for over a decade, and is joining a national awareness to educate the masses about the destructive respiratory disease.
The Associated Press reports that Chenoweth went incorrectly diagnosed until she moved out to L.A. where her sickness escalated. Before that she was having respiratory problems in New York while singing and starring in the hit Broadway musical Wicked which she felt at the time was bronchitis or something similar.
She remembers, "It wasn't until I was doing the television series, 'Pushing Daisies,' that my doctor in Oklahoma diagnosed me."
According to a press release, Chenoweth recently joined The Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America, along with inhaler with count manufacturer Teva Respiratory, as their official spokeswoman for the “Know Your Count” awareness campaign. In the press release she comments, “It is my hope that by sharing my personal experience, I can encourage patients to know their count when it comes to asthma management."
Chenoweth is an acclaimed actress and singer, with Emmy and Tony award wins under her belt. She is set to appear in the 100th episode of Glee later this month.
