Kurt Busch held on to win the race Sunday afternoon at Martinsville Speedway in Virginia. He managed to get by Jimmie Johnson who has won at that track an impressive eight times. This was Busch’s first win in 83 races.

It was an emotional victory seeing as it has been so long since Busch has made it to Victory Lane. Busch has also undergone a significant change as he switched racing teams. This was just his sixth race with Stewart-Haas Racing.

According to the Associated Press Busch said, “I’ve been on this journey for a while and every time you come to Martinsville, you just kind of draw a line through it like there’s no way I’ll be able to challenge those Hendrick guys or be up in the top 10.”

The race did not start out so great for Busch. According to USA Today early on he had a run in with Brad Keselowski which left his car damaged. He then got on his radio and said that he was done, but apparently he wasn’t.
