After signing a two-month contract with Spain’s Laboral Kutxa Baskonia basketball team and only playing two games, Lamar Odom’s comeback has ended.
According to Us Weekly, Odom flew out to New York on Monday to see a back specialist after Spanish doctors took a look at his injury.
The doctors ruled that the former NBA champion is unfit to play for a month, notes ESPN. Following the doctors' ruling, Baskonia issued a statement saying Odom has “finished his present contract.”
In the two games Odom played, he was rusty on the court. Odom scored only two points and played a total of 23 minutes.
“Lamar Odom as an athlete, he is a little embarrassed. But, at the same time, I am proud to be able to say that I am hurt and I have a team that understands that I am injured and they are still supportive. That means a lot,” said Odom, according to the New York Daily News.
The Spanish team didn’t rule out the possibility of having Odom return once he recovers.
His injury and release from the Baskonia marks another low for the troubled former NBA player. Odom, 34, just went through a media circus divorce from reality TV star Khloe Kardashian and was arrested last summer for drunk driving.
