Legendary voice-over artist Hal Douglas dead at 89

The legendary movie trailer voice-over artist, Hal Douglas, died Friday, March 7 at his home in Virginia.

According to New York Daily News, Douglas' daughter, Sarah, confirmed that he passed away at his house in Lovettsville, VA. after battling complications with pancreatic cancer.

According to USA Today, Douglas, who was born in Connecticut, was 89 years old when he passed away, with his wife of 43 years, Ruth and daughter by his side.

Douglas' voice can be heard on many movie trailers, including Meet the Parents, Forest Gump, and Lethal Weapons.

Douglas, who worked steadily until two years ago, never lived in Hollywood and preferred to do most of his work from different studios in New York. He had a relaxed view of his work, and chose to stay humble about himself.

In 2009 he told the New York Times, “I’m not outstanding in any way. It’s a craft that you learn, like making a good pair of shoes. And I just consider myself a good shoemaker.”
