Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mike Trout has only played two full seasons in the majors, but he has made an impact since day one and emerged as one of the best players in baseball. The 22-year-old agreed to a contract extension with the Angels that will keep him around for another six years.
Sports Illustrated reports that Trout's new deal is worth $144.5 million. This will cover Trout's next three arbitration years and his first three years of free agency eligibility. He will be under contract with the Angels until 2021. He will be 29 when his contract expires.
Trout was the first arbitration-eligible player to break $1 million in his one-year arbitration contract, according to Fansided.
In 2012, Trout won the American League Rookie of the Year Award with 30 home runs, 83 runs batted in, 126 runs scored and a .326 batting average. He also stole 49 bases.
He followed that up with an impressive 2013 season, which included 27 home runs, 97 runs batted in and a .323 batting average.
