M.I.A is making light of the NFL’s lawsuit against her by asking Madonna for the money she’s being sued for. Two years after flipping the bird during her Super Bowl halftime show with the “Material Girl,” she’s still fighting the NFL for their claims of breach of contract.
The NFL originally sued M.I.A., real name Mathangi Arulpragasam, for $1.5 million. However, they now want $16.6 million from her in "restitution." They want $15.1 more for the money advertisers would have paid for ads during that time frame.
In light of this recent change in the lawsuit, M.I.A. tweeted to Madonna, asking her for the money.
“@madonna ummm ..... can i borrow 16 million ?” she joked.

In a statement, M.I.A. said of the change, "The NFL's continued pursuit of this proceeding is transparently an exercise by the NFL intended solely to bully and make an example of Respondents for daring to challenge NFL.”
This week, she also tweeted an email she received, writing, “THIS IS WHAT THEY WANT ME TO SIGN , THAT IVE BEEN FIGHTING FOR 2 YEARS ON TOP OF 16 MILLION.”

The NFL claims M.I.A breached her performance contract and hurt the NFL's reputation by sticking up her middle finger.
