The Philadelphia Eagles have agreed to a three-year-deal with former New Orleans Saints safety Malcolm Jenkins.
According to NFL.com, the deal is for three years at $16.25 million, with $8.5 million guaranteed.
Eagles’ country was kind of quiet during the first hour of free agency, but general manager Howie Roseman made a splash just after 5 p.m. and signed the 26-year-old Jenkins.
NBC Sports reported that the Birds released Patrick Chung, who they signed in free agency last year.
The Eagles aren’t exactly bursting with talent at the safety position, so Jenkins was a need and should be an upgrade for the team.
The five-year pro has six interceptions, six forced fumbles and three TD returns for his career. He has never recorded less than 44 tackles in any season.
Jenkins expressed his excitement to be joining the team just minutes after the signing was reported:
