Mark Wahlberg will be receiving the generation award at this years MTV Movie Awards. Wahlberg is known for a variety of film projects including The Departed, The Fighter and Ted, he can also be seen in the next installment of the upcoming Transformers film.

Stephen Friedman, president of MTV, spoke about why Wahlberg was being honored with this award. “Mark Wahlberg is the definition of a modern-day Renaissance Man: from ‘Dirk Diggler’ to ‘The Departed,’ ‘The Basketball Diaries’ to ‘Ted,’ ‘Entourage’ to ‘The Fighter,’ in front of the camera and behind – he’s done it all and he’s always memorable." said Friedman.

"Mark has captivated the MTV audience for over 20 years, and for this rare feat, we’re proud to recognize him with this year’s Generation Award," Friedman went on to explain.

CBS reported that the entire Entourage cast will be presenting the generation award to Wahlberg. This will be the first time the cast has publicly reunited since the series wrapped on HBO.

The appearance of the Entourage cast is likely to also promote the upcoming film that will be opening in theaters in the summer of 2015.

Variety reported that this award has been given to Jamie Foxx, Johnny Depp, Reese Witherspoon, Ben Stiller, Adam Sandler, Sandra Bullock, Mike Myers and Jim Carrey.

The MTV movie awards will air live on April 13th.
