If you think you’ve seen enough of Matthew McConaughey winning awards these past few months, you haven’t. The actor is likely to earn an Emmy nomination this year for his chilling performance in HBO’s True Detective. He wouldn't spoil the acclaimed show’s ending, but he did say that he’s not coming back for a second season.
After he picked up his first ever Oscar for Dallas Buyers Club, reports did ask backstage if he had any True Detective spoilers he could share, notes TheWrap.
“I don’t know what happens, I’m telling you,” the actor replied. “Oh, maybe I do.”
He did say that he won’t return for the second season, notes E! News. “I won't be back for season two. Season one was finite,” McConaughey said.
The show was created by Nic Pizzolatto who hinted on Twitter that he might cast two actresses for the second season. True Detective is planned as anthology series, similar to American Horror Story, where each season is its own story. In season one, McConaughey is paired with Woody Harrelson as Louisiana state detectives investigating a brutal murder.
The first season only runs eight episodes. Its finale airs this Sunday at 9 p.m.
