Mark Cuban, the outspoken owner of the NBA’s Dallas Mavericks, told reporters Sunday before a game that he believes the NFL will implode in 10 years because of greed.

“I think the NFL is 10 years away from an implosion,” Cuban told reporters, according to ESPN Dallas. “I'm just telling you, pigs get fat, hogs get slaughtered. And they're getting hoggy. Just watch. Pigs get fat, hogs get slaughtered. When you try to take it too far, people turn the other way.”

Cuban added, “I'm just telling you, when you've got a good thing and you get greedy, it always, always, always, always, always turns on you. That's rule number one of business.”

Cuban appeared to be referencing the NFL’s continuing expansion of TV coverage. Early last month, the league struck a deal with CBS, allowing the network to broadcast Thursday games. Cuban suggests that over-saturation could be the league’s undoing.

But the fact remains that Americans will watch football no matter when it’s on. Millions tuned in to see the Super Bowl, even though the game was a complete blowout. Even the boring Pro Bowls draw viewers.

Cuba also seems to get forgetting that NFL only has one pool of audience to draw from, the U.S. His sport, basketball, has a much wider audience as the NBA has turned into a global brand.
