The Miami Dolphins bolstered the cornerback position by signing Cortland Finnegan to a two-year contract. The financial terms have not been disclosed though.

According to CBS Sports, Finnegan was rated No. 114 in the CBS Sports free agent list. However, Finnegan was ranked highly in 2011, his final season with the Tennessee Titans. He was rated the second-best cornerback by Pro Football Focus. He only trailed Darrelle Revis.

Finnegan signed with the St. Louis Rams and disappointed in his second season after a solid 2012 performance. He only played seven games in 2013 before sitting out with an eye injury.

According to Fansided, Finnegan finished with 101 tackles and three interceptions in 2012. However, Finnegan only finished with 27 tackles and one interception in 2013, leading to his release from St. Louis.

The Dolphins figure to have a strong cornerback duo after re-signing Brent Grimes to a four-year, $32 million deal. Grimes impressed in his prove-it year with four interceptions and 60 tackles. Finnegan will look to return to form as the Dolphins hope to reach the playoffs for the first time since 2008.
