No. 2 seed Michigan appeared to have a comfortable lead over No. 11 seed Tennessee in what turned to be a thrilling Sweet 16 matchup. They ultimately prevailed 73-71 after holding a 15-point lead.
According to ESPN, the Wolverines held their large lead with 10:55 remaining in the second half. The Volunteers went on a 26-12 run after this though.
With 13 seconds left on the clock, they pulled within one point of the Wolverines, according to WZZM.
Their momentum was halted when Jarnell Stokes committed a costly offensive foul to give the Wolverines possession. Nik Stauskas missed a free throw with three seconds left to keep the Wolverines' lead at two. The Volunteers failed to make a miracle shot at the end to seal the Wolverines' victory.
The Wolverines were led by Jordan Morgan, who scored 15 points and had seven rebounds. Stauskas added another 14 points.
Jordan McRae led the Volunteers with 24 points. He also had six rebounds and four blocked shots.
