Actor Matt Ryan will appear in the new NBC pilot Constantine.

The pilot is based on the DC Comics stories. Lucy Griffiths, Harold Perrineau, and Charles Halford are co-starring in the project. The project was written by executive producer, Daniel Cerone, according to Deadline. Cerone also worked on the popular series, The Mentalist. He co-wrote a story with David S. Goyer. The show is based on a character from DC Comics. Warner Bros. TV will produce the series.

John Constantine is a con man turned detective who defends humanity, according to The Huffington Post. The character was originally created by Alan Moore, Steve Bissette, and John Totleben.

Characters from DC comics are gaining resurgence in popularity. In addition to Constantine, characters from DC Comics are appearing on the small screen in Gotham and Arrow.
